Tamarack Marine Textiles LLC
- Textile for the Rigors of the Marine Environment
Hello, I'm Shannon and Tamarack Marine Textiles is my undertaking.
Growing up, my father was enlisted in the Navy and my mother was a seamstress. I grew up surrounded by the ocean, often sailing and always involved with sewing projects.
My love of ocean has never wavered, I am currently exploring nature in my Kelsall Suncat 38. I would like to contribute to your boating adventures with well crafted and durable marine textile solutions.
I provide pragmatic solutions, from one sailor to another.

The Results You Expect
I am deeply passionate about delivering solutions that meet my client's needs. Clear and constant communications are key, as well as a transparent and efficient delivery process. The process when working with me is very straight forward and designed to ensure consistent results and outcomes that everyone is happy with.
Although we will have communicated via phone or email already. Every project begins with a face to face meeting. If you prefer it may be a video meeting, or we can meet face-to-face at my office. We will discuss the scope of the project. The desired materials, colors and ascetic choices, and other important requirements. All of this at no cost to you.
After our initial consult, you will receive a detailed quote. Specifying the materials to be used, the scope of the work to be performed, the timeline and the cost.
Work begins when a 50% deposit is received. At that time I'll order all necessary materials, and communicate when they are expected to arrive. When they arrive, the pre-agreed upon timeline begins. Results, delivered on time.
Once the work is complete we will review the results, and upon your complete satisfaction the final invoice will be issued. For carry-in repair work, the final payment is expected when you pick up the work products.
No mysteries, just clear expectations followed by prompt service. I get paid when you are satisfied.
Craftsmanship Combined with Technology
I believe mastery of the basics is essential. A few years ago when I started my journey, I intentionally started with an antique sewing machine (A singer 16-188 manufactured in 1908). From there I have been honing my techniques, understanding and tools.
These days my primary machine is a JUKI 1508NS. This is the big brother of the industry workhorse, the JUKI 1541. I chose the JUKI 1508 over the alternatives as it is capable across a wider variety of materials. I have not been disappointed, the results have always been flawless.
I also have a few special purpose machines, such as the Sailrite Ultrafeed LSZ which I can bring to your vessel for quick repairs or rapid on-site prototyping. I highlight these choices to demonstrate my commitment for quality workmanship and lasting results.
My engineering background and technology skills enable me to approach old world artistry with modern technologies and prototyping techniques. I'm exploring 3D scanning, computer assisted pattern making for instance. But the basics are the same as they have been for over a hundred years. Something that I won't forget.
